OUTFIT DU JOUR - Bitten

Last night, my friend invited me to an art book launch at Nuda salon.  My first question was "are there food and drinks?".  Oh yeah, the girl has her priorities right!

We got there fashionably late and it was already a little crowded.  And of course, me and my friend were the only ones hogging the waitress with a platter of sushi!!!  Haha...why waste good food when everyone else is busy mingling?  I know, I should be doing some PR instead of stuffing my face.  Anyways, the highlight of the night was a bathtub full of oysters, sponsored by LeMeac restaurant, on their outdoor patio!  Naturally, I decided to stay there for the rest of the evening...

But all didn't come without a price: I got bitten by mosquitos all over my legs!  Ouch!  Right through my opaque tights!!  Guess I won't be showing my legs anytime soon.

Another Remake: 'Scarface'

So the word that Hollywood is making another remake and this time is going to "Scarface". This is movie is a classic that was remade and the second version with Al Pacino is well known and loved by the hip hop community and anyone that enjoys a come up. I don't know if this movie will have the same impact as the Al Pacino version ,but who knows this maybe something that people are looking to see.
"The project is in the early stages but it being described as not a sequel or outright remake of the 1983 Al Pacino version, nor the 1932 Paul Muni-George Raft  movie. Each of those was crime sagas telling the rise and fall of a gangster, and each was a mirror of their time. The 1932 version was set in Chicago and featured bootlegging, Italians and Irish mobsters. The 1983 version was set in Miami and cocaine was the vice of choice. The new “Scarface” is planned to be the same: a crime tale set in today’s world, offering a dark look at the American Dream."(http://www.eurweb.com/2011/09/universal-to-produce-remake-of-%e2%80%98scarface%e2%80%99/)

Tyler Perry's 'Marriage Counselor' Coming To Big Screen

So the word is that the hit Tyler Perry play "Marriage Counselor" will be created into a movie. The play was a hit that showcased all the characters singing abilities and I wonder if the movie will have any singing and how much will the movie follow the play.
I just hope they keep both actors Altrina Graysonas, Palmer Williams Jr. from the play that played Floyd Jackson and TeTe. Those two were too funny in the play. I am excited to see what is created for the movie. Production will start next month and I can't wait for the movie to drop.

MILAN FW - Francesco Scognamiglio

(Francesco Scognamiglio Spring 2012)

This is the best lace collection of the season, hands down!  Although we've seen lace since Prada a few seasons ago, Francesco made it sheer, sensual and daring with strategically focus points.  The exposed breasts and underpinning were to provoke on the runway, but I can very well see myself with a nude slip to allow some imagination while remaining all covered.

Hair Envy

I want her hair please!  Ever since my pregnancy, I haven't dyed, bleach, permed or any other kind of chemical process in my hair.  Now, almost 2 years and many trims later, my hair is at its virgin state.  However, it lacks a little something...I can't pinpoint it out...

Maybe I need more texture and layers; maybe I need some highlights.  It just feels boring...or maybe I'm just bored of them!  In any cases, I want her hair!  Full of shine, full of bounce and full of waves.

ps.  Feel free to give suggestions

Kobe Bryant's The Giver

So the word is that Kobe Bryant wants to be the giver during the NBA lockout. Meaning that he will hand over some cash to his fellow players to help them as they experience the lock out. I think that it's real coo that Kobe a veteran player would do this and I hope that everything works out for the NBA players during this time. This is what executive of the NBA Billy Hunter had to say about the situation and more info:
"Kobe has volunteered to do that in the event others need, he and others are prepared to loan money if necessary,” Hunter said.Further, he added that fans should be on the players’ side because Hunter thinks fans should side with the players because “we have some of the same issues now that so many individuals in this country experience.
Of course, the difference is the pay scale. But the system we operate under is pay for performance. These players are the widgets. They’re replaceable. They face competition for their jobs. They do endure injuries, their bodies take a toll. The back end of some of their lives will be difficult.”(http://www.eurweb.com/2011/09/kobe-the-atm-nba-megastar-willing-to-loan-money-to-players/)

Taraji P. Henson Outraged At TV Guide

So the word is that TV Guide is really trifling. Taraji P.Henson was disrespected when her cast mates were featured on the cover without her.  This does not make season that she is the one of the lead characters and I do understand why she would not be featured alongside her cast mates. No one can deny Henson's talent or gift.

Here's what Henson had to say about the topic:“WOW!!!! TV Guide is NOT including me on the cover with my cast memebers [sic]……..I am the female lead of a 3 member cast and I’m not included on the cover!!!!!! Do you see the shit I have to deal with in this business…..I cram to understand!!!!”
She posted on Twitter saying she couldn’t believe the boldness of TV Guide.
“WOW @ TVGuide!!!!! Being a member of 2 academys I honestly have no words!!!!!”
Henson stars as Detective Carter alongside Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel, and Kevin Chapman in the crime drama. And what does TV Guide have to say about the glaring, beyond obvious omission? As of this posting, nothing."(http://www.eurweb.com/2011/09/super-snub-tv-guide-cuts-star-taraji-p-henson-out-of-cover-photo/)

SHOPPING SPOT - Cahier d'Exercices

About two weeks ago while buying my new Alexander Wang coat, I was talking to my sales about how we lack shopping spots here in Montreal.  The city is often referred to the Paris of North America yet we only have a handful of decent shopping spots that we can be proud of (stores with avant-garde & emerging designers, exclusive collections and hip/trendy brands in general).

And just then, she told me about a relatively new store called Cahier d'Exercices (french translation of workbook), located in Old Montreal.  The owner Laura Gurandiano has set her store exclusive by locking in exclusivity with one of the most coveted label, Celine!  Celine RTW, Celine accessories, Celine shoes and of course, Celine handbags!!!  How exciting!

I immediately called my friend who was looking to buy a Luggage Tote to inquire with them (new store + maybe not a lot of people knows about it yet = tiny, if any, waiting list for the Luggage tote!).  Without having her hopes too high, she gave her name for the new Phantom Luggage in Flesh colour.

In less than a week, she got the call and dragged me with her to see the bag in person.  Wow!  The colour is more spectacular in person than I had imagined.  I knew she needed me for moral support (obsessing over the bag vs. guilt of the purchase), but I was barely able to contain the excitement myself.

"No pressure, because after all, you'll be paying and using it.  But I would get it without hesitation!  I know you...you'll regret it!!!" is exactly what I said.

So if you've been longing a Celine piece (they also just received Nano Luggage, Trio Pouch, Small & Medium Box, and much much more), call them now!!!

ps. I'll try to get some pics of her new Celine Phantom Luggage this weekend to capture the beautiful colour in daylight.  It's really stunning!!!

GIRL CRUSH - Jayesslee

Do twins count as a girl crush?  Or should I pick one out of the two that I prefer over the other?

Jayesslee are twin sisters Janice and Sonia.  I discovered them this week on Facebook but soon found that they have a YouTube Channel where you can listen to all their interpretation of current pop songs (english and korean)!  I must admit that the being twins (and very cute ones) obviously is a big + for getting attention to viewers!  But after listening to them sing "Price Tag", you'll soon also be charmed by their cuteness and their talent.  And did I mention that Sonia, the younger twin, plays guitar?!?

24 years old and born and raised in Korean Australia, the girls really have their whole life and career in front of them.

LONDON FW - Temperley London

(Temperley London Spring 2012)

Far more dressy and high-society than past collection, Alice Temperley's collection has much more to do with evening wear than daywear.  I do love the feel of the Cannes Festival with long printed silk kimono dress and sheer embroidered gowns.

Hey, and have you noticed that all these glamorous models have their hair wrapped with a scarf with a low bun?  I need to try that again!
