83RD ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS BEST DRESSED LIST

After being slightly bored with the fashion at the Grammy Awards, it was simply delightful to be able to pick and choose five stunning gowns! The red carpet dawned many surprising trends for Spring 2011, most notably, the surplus of red gowns, form fitting pieces, and intricate beadwork to name a few!

5-Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang
The always funny and always classy Sandra Bullock showed up at the red carpet in a figure flattering Vera Wang gown. Her simple accessories, makeup and pulled back hair enable the dress to remain the focal point and really take over.

4-Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
Cate Blanchett took a risk with this Givenchy Couture Spring 2011 piece. The silk chiffon lavender gown is embroidered in leather pearls and crystals. Combined with the structure at the shoulders, the dress is reminiscent of a piece of art, and is light and refreshing on Blanchett’s silhouette.

3-Michelle Williams in Chanel
Who doesn’t love Chanel? Actually, who doesn’t love Michelle William’s in Chanel? The Blue Valentine actress looked elegant in a short sleeve winter white Chanel gown that draped her petite figure perfectly. Taking the piece from conservative to glamorous, William’s paired the gown with Harry Winston diamond earrings.

2-Halle Barry in Marchesa
Halle Barry is undoubtedly one of my favorite red carpet fashion icons. Her choices are always breathtaking and this crystal encrusted Machesa corset gown is no different. She takes a feminine, romantic piece and adds a sultry flare to it, courtesy of her flawless figure.

1-Mila Kunis in Elie Saab
What a surprise! Mila Kunis looks breathtaking in Elie Saab. The lavender tiered gown combined with sheer lace detail screams femininity and grace. Do I spot a new fashion icon on the rise? Hears hoping!

All lights on her

(Natalie Portman)

(Cate Blanchett)

(Scarlett Johansson)

(Gwyneth Paltrow)

(Anne Hathaway)

At the Oscars last night, the ladies all had their glamour on for the biggest award show of the year.  Although I have my favorites,  there weren't really any "misses"...kinda of a bummer that everyone played it safe.

Let me just start by saying how happy I was that dear Natalie Portman won the best actress!!  And of course she looked glowing with her baby bump now very visible.  But my top choice is Cate Blanchett with an edgier Givenchy Haute Couture number.  Scarlett Johansson never failed to ooze sensuality and Gwyneth Paltrow is simply stunning.  As for host Anne Hathaway, she managed 9 outfits throughout the night!  However, the Valentino red gown was clearly the winner.

my sanctuary

Just a few random snapshots of my livingroom...like I said earlier, I was bored!  Dont worry about me, tomorrow, I'll be busy watching the Oscars!

Wedding at White Castle?

Ok I heard people say that it doesn't matter where you get married but I think this is taking things too far. I think they would have been better off just going to City Hall...LOL I think this may be a little ghetto. Couple Jonita and Rembert expressing their love for one another at the fast food restaurant White Castle. The Radio Station Power 107.5 was in attendance and check out the video below.

bored & lazy

Not sure if I am bored and therefore lazy or I am lazy and therefore bored.  Either way, I didn't bother to get dressed, comb my hair or put on makeup (I almost didn't feel like brushing my teeth!!!).

Having fun doing some "Ayden" poses on my couch while he's asleep.  What do nomal people do on a saturday afternoon?

in my bag...

I just couldn't resist grabbing my camera when I saw my son playing with the clochette of my Bolide.  Next thing you know, I threw him in it!!!  So that's what I have in my bag...

The Bodyguard Remake?

Remakes are being over done and this is a prime example of a remake that shouldn't be done.

"The Bodyguard will be scripted by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer, whose action comedy script ‘Family Getaway’ made the 2010 Black List and is a priority project at Warner Bros. Dan Lin will produce through his Lin Pictures banner, and Mark Bauch is co-producer, stated Deadline.com. Original written by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Mick Jackson, the film centered around a Secret Service agent (played by Costner) who has to protect a well-known singer (played by Houston) from a stalker. While doing his job, he falls in love in her which complicates his duties.
The sites states that the new version is similar, including the love story, but here the bodyguard will be a former Iraq war veteran who gets the job protecting the star as his first gig after leaving the Army. He discovers that the world of Twitter, Google Maps and TMZ has made access to celebrities easier than ever, making the job more difficult than ever. The goal is to take a young female singer with global appeal and give her the platform that ‘The Bodyguard’ did Houston. While the film received mixed to negative reviews, including a Razzie Award nomination for Houston for Worst Actress, ‘The Bodyguard’ was a global blockbuster hit, grossing over $400 million.
Two songs from the film, ‘Run to You’ and ‘I Have Nothing,’ were nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song. The film was also nominated for four Grammy Awards, winning three, including Album of the Year for its soundtrack album of the same name."
I just want to see how this turns out. Because can't nobody do Whitney,LOL but lets see. This story will definitely will have an update.

OUTFIT DU JOUR - the Weekender

It's the weekend already (not that it matters so much when you're on mat leave...)!!  And what better time to take out my weekender Bolide!  This use to be my workhorse: perfectly subtle and luxurious to use at meetings with my clients.  I really missed her!  Well, I guess I can use it now occasionally as my diapper bag until I go back to work?!?

Best of London FW

(Matthew Williamson)

(Mary Katrantzou)

(Basso & Brooke)

(Roksanda Ilincic)

(Thomas Tait)

(Todd Lynn)

The Brits are crazy...crazy genius that is!  My favorite collection was Matthew Williamson: a mix of fur, feathers and modern mongolian chic!  Surprisingly, I'm also loving the english garden print overload at Mary Katrantzou.  Canadian newcomer, Thomas Tait, gave us origami folds on shirt, skirts and coats that I just want to wear.

Next: Milan on the move!

Girl Scout Cookies Make You Crazy

"Police say a brawl between roommates over Girl Scout cookies led to assault charges against one of them. According to the Naples Daily News, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office reports that 31-year-old Hersha Howard woke up her roommate early Sunday and accused her of eating her Thin Mints. They argued and deputies say that it turned physical with Howard chasing her roommate with scissors and hitting her repeatedly with a board and then a sign.

Police say the roommate’s husband tried to separate them. The roommate said she gave the cookies to Howard’s children. Howard is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released Monday on $10,000 bail.A telephone listing for Howard could not be immediately found."

I am like dang I know girl scout cookies are good but they're not worth going to jail over. Home girl was on some other stuff, girl scout cookies must be her crack LOL. Then  how she just going to beat the girl down and then not get the full story. SMH this story is a mess and sad because the kids have lost a parent over some BS.

Reed Krakoff - a man that understands me

I don't need bling bling; I don't need fireworks.  I consider myself a simple girl in a world where everyone crave for drama girls (gossip magazines anyone?).  So when a man, like Reed Krakoff, understands exactly what I want better than myself, I can't help but to feel in ahh...

Krakoff was the creative director of Coach, but RK's new luxury line has nothing to do with Coach.  In his RK collection, he touches all the subtleties that define understated luxury.  I am currently in love with his Boxer Tote and Boxer Clutch, which features a simple belt strap closure similar to straps used on vintage luggages.  And the combination of colours and textures are beyond perfection.

HBCU's Acting Up SMH

So two videos have been posted on the web of students at HBCU's (Historicaly Black Colleges & Universitys) acting a fool and beating the mess out of eachother in their college's cafiteria s. I am like are yall for real?

Do they know that if they fight they get exspelled from school. Like I know that things aren't that serious. It's supposed to be black history month and these idiots making us as a people look bad. Come on we need to do better. We need to love one another and build up our black brothers and sisters.

Auraya Skincare

I recently started a new skincare regime for my combination skin with some first signs of aging (yikes!!).  I was hoping that it's just winter, but these little lines around my mouth, eyes and neck are here to stay...

Recently, I was introduced to Auraya, an organic skincare that uses 100% natural ingredients developped by my cousin Vivi.  I still recall when she first mentioned her line to me and asked if I was into organic products, my initial reply was "no, they're too expensive!".  Haha...I guess I should have displayed a little more elegance in my answer...But to my surprise, her line is actually more affortable than most products I already use!

My favorite products are the Ylang Ylang Sandalwood lotion, Rose and Aloe Facial Toner and the Chamomile Eye Cream.  The Rose Geranium Face Cream feels a little oily on my face but actually gets completely absorbed after a few minutes.  I was also suggested to leave my eye and face cream in the fridge for optimal texture and to extend the shelf life since no preservative has been added.  As for the Gentle Exfoliating Scrub, I have mix feelings: love the gentle texture but not the scent.

What I'm actually even more excited about is the Lil One Cream and Lotion!!!  Which mom doesn't like organic baby products?  I especially LOVE the scent of sweet orange and vanilla in the lotion!  And the cream of perfect for Ayden's dry skin in the winter time.

Auraya is now only available online: http://www.auraya.ca/
